Ok, so maybe the last thing the world needs is another point of view. However, I am not concerned with what the world needs; just with my point of view. As a precursor to whatever I may cover let it be known that it will inevitably have something to do with a Latino viewpoint. See, I believe in single point focus, therefore I will focus on Nosotros. Not that the other topics of the world (that desperately need more points of view) are not of interest to me. It's just that I only care to examine how or if topics affect Latinos.
High Horse Time...
I get enough points of views on most topics anyway! The one conversation that I seem to never get enough views on is the Latino side of things. How were Latinos affected during Katrina? Who in the Latino community has potential for a presidential run? How will Washington's new decision makers change life for Latinos? What will young Latino soldiers do to help themselves and their communities when they come home? How are we teaching Latino children to be effective in a global economy? (this ain't about arepa recipes in here!)
Background
I'm Puerto Rican, a New Yorker and have been around long enough to see the forest from the trees regard Latino issues. I am the father of two energetic young adults. A teenage daughter in high school and a 21 year old son who is in the work force. My son is now the age I was when he was born. My professional life has kept me deeply rooted in the urban entertainment world. (Born again Hooligan) So I have a distinct perspective on urban culture. I listen to Hip Hop, Salsa, Jazz, Dance and occasionally even classical music (Looney Tunes upbringing). Some college, lotsa street and the occasional lucky guess. Management skills, full understanding of economics and a crash course student of Wall Street. Traveled the World and enjoy people, history, art and cultures. Politically, I'm a Latino with Latino values, i'm a human with human concerns. Don't like abuse and usually root for the underdog. I am philosophically inclined to help myself and spend no time blaming others for my problems. I believe that we each hold the power to have great lives and should always thrive to do our best and then some.
Well, now that you know a bit about me, I feel comfortable enough to give my point of view from here on out.
Siembra Siempre!
